Something fishy here

This first picture is from Wall Springs. I'm sure I'll have more pics from there later. It's an awesomely beautiful park with a really interesting history.

The next 3 fishy pics are from Anclote Gulf Park in Pasco County.

I was aiming the camera at some mangroves and heard a splash right at the edge of the water. When I looked to see what it was, I saw a school of needlefish. One had grabbed something and was gulping it down. These guys are so cool! They came so close to the edge, I almost expected them to swim right out onto the shore.

I didn't forget the tiger pics. No really great takes, so these will have to do. They were, of course, every bit as adorable as we expected. I'm going to do my best to get back down there when it cools off and try for some better shots of the two of them rough-housing.

Don't forget, you can click on any pic for a larger view.

Nice photos! I've never seen fish like that--they are aptly named. And of course the tiger is adorable. I like the last one where he looks like he is about to nap.

Hey, thanks for your post on my blog. I am enjoying learning about your trip. You asked how I am spending my time. After three days of euphoria culminating in sending the mansuscript off to the Library of Congress for a copyright, I had a bout of postpartum depression. Then, I forced myself to write down the goals for my book and make a publishing plan. First, is getting the draft proofed and tighten up some of the writing. That is sheer drudgery to me, but I am slogging through. Then, I hope to find an agent. It is a tough road. Some people tell me it takes more than five years just to find an agent, much less a publisher. But, I will try. When, I am done proofing, while looking for an agent, I will start on the sequel. I miss blogging though, so may start posting some short pieces about life here one day soon. Thanks for asking. Love, Cathy

Peggy, I've always been kinda fond of needlefish. We'd often see some of their bigger gar cousins down in S FL.

Cathy, watch God work in your life and bless you with an agent and a publisher in record time! I'm looking forward to reading your blog again!

Meems, the cubs were worth the trip, but you were sure right about waiting for cooler weather. WHEW!

The Wife always reminds me that those needlefish are delicious fried and served with ice cold beer. That's how they do it in Brazil.

Those cubs are adorable. Baby anythings are adorable, but those guys are really cute. I could probably watch them for hours...

T-fish, I've always wondered how they'd be on a plate. Agulhas fritas, I presume. I'm pretty sure the Japanese eat them, as well.

SwampAngel, I spent way too much time watching those 2. DS gave up and went on without me for a while. LOL!

Your top fish look like Gulf Killifish ... a superior flounder bait.

As for the needley guys, Dr. Bob Shipp's Guide To The Fishes of the Gulf of Mexico mentions the good flavor of the needlefish too.

Pretty clever to get clear fish pics without getting wet.

FC, you're probably right. You're way fishier than I. To me, the tails - and something else I can't quite put my finger on - don't look right. Then again, my fish are in water and the pics I Googled were mostly dry-docked. That gorgeously clear Gulf water was a big help in getting those shots. Technically, I did get my feet wet a few minutes before these pics. The water just covering the bottom step was irresistible. 8-]

Nice fish pictures, Sophie. I like the cat, too.

Hebrews 10 may be the chapter you are looking for. I like this website. It helps me when I have part of a verse but cannot find its location. www.biblegateway.com
