09 October 2006

This three day weekened seems to have gone on for a week already. That's what happens when I start getting up early. The days go on forever.

I've been reading lately about the possibility that Ivory-billed Woodpeckers are still living in parts of Florida. Wouldn't that be amazing?! St. Joe, of course, are convinced it's all a plot to stop their new airport project. In an area that can't support the small airport it already has. They're intent on wiping out every last inch of natural Florida. As if Dismal World wasn't bad enough. Already, scenic 98 is being obliterated. It's just heart-breaking.

Yariguies Brush Finch
But I digress. While the search continues for more evidence of the Ivory-billed Woodpeckers' continued existence, an entirely new species has been discovered on a remote mountain range in South America! The Yariguies Brush Finch, pictured here, was caught during the first biological expedition to the Yariguies Mountains in northern Columbia. How exciting! They've also discovered several new butterflies. More news of that will come later.

Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^
