I have a Crush...

...on old buildings. On a recent westerly jaunt, I spotted this one and had to turn around and snap a few pics. It was in a bad spot to get out, so I quickly snapped through the open window and beat feet... er, tires.

This is what first caught my eye.

Most of these old ads have faded beyond recognition, so I'm always tickled when I come across one so readable. And I'm sure at least one of my blog buddies will be just as tickled to see it. 8-]

Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^

I remember when those things were all over... Am I dating myself? I also remember the old Tallahassee Motor Hotel signs that were everywhere. Every once in a while (a very great while), I'll come across another one in some forgotten place.

Elizabeth, it was over on 69, somewhere south of Two Egg. I think maybe around Dellwood. I think that was the first time we'd taken that route.

Sayre, it's been ages since I last saw one of those signs! Talk about dating oneself... I keep trying to describe to DS how wonderful the old capitol building looked before they erected that disgusting monstrosity behind it. *sigh*

CC/JJ, yes! I always brake for tin roofs. If we don't sell this place soonly, I'm going to have one put over the deck.

Sophie, that is a wonderful find! Yes, I am tickled to see it. A sign like that, still occupying the context of its own weathered years, is a pure thing. It still touches the past, and we do through it. What a beautiful, unloud way to announce a product, that was.

From my silence, you've inspired me to compose a photo essay using some bottles I have. I'll be sure you know when it posts.

Oh, such an awesome picture of the old building! I love it. I love to paint pictures of old buildings and houses. - And the old sign is wonderful. Orange Crush was my favorite soda pop when I was growing up. - Now I am really dating myself! LOL.
Have a wonderful Lord's Day, Sophie.
In HIS love, G G :)

There is a group up here in NC that travel around taking pictures and viewing those old soft drink ads on the side of old buildings. They did a show on them recently. Now I look for them whenever I'm traveling around this area. Pepsi was invented at New Bern, about 30 miles from where we live.
