Y'all all got it. Troll was the first to identify it as a leopard. Actually, it's a Giant Leopard Moth, (Hypercompe scribonia) aka Eyed Tiger Moth. The Leopard Moth (Zeuzera pyrina) has smaller, solid black circles.

I love the map! Well done.
Does this moth have a pink underside to his wings?
I looked Giant Leopard Moth up and he has no pink coloring - but I've definitely seen the wooly bear caterpillars and picked them up.
Do I win something?
Robert, thanks! It is good to know where to look.
Suze, they do have some nice body colours hidden under there. We had a wooly bear on our deck the other night. Were your hands irritated? As I recall, some people are more sensitive.
Troll, bragging rights and a brownie button. 8-}
