is the fat lady singing?

Is it over yet? What a Christmas this has been! It took a full week to recover from DS's birthday dinner. Just when I thought it was safe, on Christmas Eve, I broke out in hives. If you've never experienced hives... count your blessings! I thought I could go ahead with the planned preparations for Christmas day. That lasted about 10 minutes before I realized my legs were two giant red blotches. A little research confirmed... any exertion makes them worse. On the bright side, Duller and DS had to do everything while I played sidewalk supervisor. It was kinda nice having Christmas dinner at home with no work involved on my part. It was pretty easy for the guys. We had a turducken this year and all they had to do was stick it in the oven. A few simple sides and we were feasting by sundown.

Funny, isn't it, how the worst days can so often be the best, as well? Duller actually paid attention this year and got me a laptop. YES! I didn't even have to get out of bed to post today! Oh, yeah, I could get used to this. If I can just get used to the keyboard. And I'm not sure I'll ever warm up to touchpads. But I can live with that.

Now it's time to start planning my next jaunt to Tampa. I'm not sure I'll be able to make it for Epiphany, as hoped, but I am definitely going to get down there while it's still cool enough to hike the zoo. Now I just need to get back into shape for all that walking. Starting tomorrow... or maybe Friday... 8-]

Thanks ever so for all your prayers and well wishes while I was sick!
Hope y'all all had a blessed Christmas!
And will be blessed beyond belief in the coming year.

Did you figure out what caused the hives or are you allergic to Christmas? Hope you are better soon.

Cathy, I never did figure out what caused them. Possibly peanut butter, which I ate for the first time in many moons. Or maybe just the release of leftover salmonella toxins? Whatever it was, I hope to never have them again. What a misery!

FC, I'm trying hard not to let myself get spoiled with the laptop. Need to make myself sit at the desk every now and then just to keep things balanced. 8-]

Glad you are finally feeling better. It's 71 degrees up here at 11:00 AM. Is it really winter? Even for an Indian summer it is a little warm.

RCWB, I think winter's about to return. I missed most of the beautiful weather, but it was great being out there today.

Meems, where are you having dinner? I sure miss being close enough to go there regularly. I am so enjoying the laptop. And it'll be great to take along on vacation... keep those emails from piling up. 8-]

I can't believe you actually got a laptop! I AM so spoiled by mine, it is my main computer now. Last trip to Tampa, Tom bought me a broadband card so I can have internet every time we travel now, not matter where we are. Heaven! And get yourself a little wireless mouse so you don't have to deal with the touchpad, much easier!
MMWWAAHH!

Hey, BP! If the keyboard didn't trip me up so often, this would definitely be my main computer. And I'll be shopping for a mouse this weekend. I'm still a bit addled about DSL, broadband and all those more advanced than our boonies dial-up terms. Is your broadband card like wifi? Mine has wifi... I think. 8-]
