Since I got a 'new' car, I've been running the roads a bit more than usual. I was astounded to realize I put 500 miles on it in one week. All within a 50-mile radius. In order to catch up here a bit, I thought I'd just post a few random pics from the first week of October.

Your blog makes me miss home! A Florida girl myself, I sure do miss the pure beauty of my home state!
Hi Sophie. Sounds like you're really enjoying the car; that's good. I love the photos, and that Hairy Clustervine is a new plant for me...never seen it...very cool. I think your gull is a Laughing, actually.
Hey, Woman on the Edge! Glad you stopped by! I almost left Florida one or twice, but just couldn't bring myself to do it.
Steve, I reckon that storm brought on a Boo Radley moment. I knew full well that was a laughing gull. *rolling eyes at self*
The clustervine is one of my faves, partly coz I so rarely see it.
That Great Blue Heron would make a beautiful painting! Heck, even blowing the pic up to 11 X 14 would be really nice framed.
The shiny butt makes me think carpenter bee also.
Is your laughing gull in winter clothes?
I like your woodies. I saw a young ibis fishing woodstork style the other day, open mouthed and swishing. I'd never seen that before.
I'm assuming you're using your new camera for these pictures. If so, these are some great shots with it.
SwampAngel, I was so tickled with the great blue pics! I think I'll try getting a print and see how it turns out. 8-]
FC, yep, that's the gull's non-breeding plumage. They look so different without their black hoods. I counted 54 wood storks in that group. Plus one Roaseate Spoonbill! If I got any decent shots of him, I'll post one later.
RCWB, interestingly enough, I'm still using the Dimage. Reckon I'm improving. Thanks! 8-] I haven't taken the new camera plunge yet... waiting for more reviews. So far, the camera I wanted hasn't been doing as well as I'd hoped. The smaple pics I've seen so far are pretty awful. 8-\
sophie: we were up your way again this weekend and took the scenic route into tally (19/27/98/267/363)... made me think of you.
you really have been getting out and i am admiring your snaps. the great blue is a show-stopper... definitely worth a hard copy. love the morning glory- have never seen it before...and of course the gull always makes me think of "everything florida". the skipper is very impressive too.
we are going to try to get to St. Marks next trip to Tally.
Beautiful photos. I love them all, but the heron is my favorite. Thanks for sharing them. Our spoonbills are just waiting for you to come take their pictures.
Meems, at some point, you were probably within 10-15 miles of me! That's pretty much the route I usually take to your area. The leg between Perry and Wakulla County can get REALLY dull after you've driven it a few dozen times, 'specially at night. You drove right past St. Marks. Definitely worth the detour.
Cathy, I do love those pinkies. If I have more time next trip down that way, maybe I'll muster up enough gumption to cross the Skyway. 8-}
sophie: if you come this way again... i volunteer to take you over the skyway... or is it that you don't like going over it no matter who is driving?
Thanks, Meems! I'm a terrible passenger. (Thanks to Duller's scaring the snot out of me over the years.) If I have outgrown my skyway phobia, I'd have to be doing the driving. Funny, coz I just love driving across the other bridges down there.
