What's the temperature, Momma?

Tupelo, honey.

A few weeks ago, I ran out of honey. When I ran down to the river to get more, this was standing on the honey man's corner.

The thing that makes me most sad is that I didn't take more time to talk with Clyde and get to know more about him and his family. I never stopped to think that one day he wouldn't be there.

Oh, there was small talk about his mayhaw jelly and different honeys, but I never asked about his personal life. And why not? He was a nice old guy and was surely full of wonderful stories of Florida's amazing past.

I'm so glad I came out of my comfortable shell and chatted with the hot dog man every weekend till he sold his trailer. He's quite a character and still hollers at me whenever he sees me at the store. Yep, he always sees me first.

So, is there a Clyde in your life? Next time you stop for a refill, spend a few extra minutes on the corner. It's worth it.

Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^

Great point Sophie! When it's gone, it aint never coming back.

I have an old commercial fisherman out at Cedar Key, whose brain I need to pick some more.

Oh Sophie, that about made me cry. Thank you for the reminder that we should take that extra moment out of our days and treat people like they matter (because they do, and we are Christ's messengers!). :)
Love you!

Sophie,
It does take some extra time to truly care for others doesn't it? My family says strangers seem to spill out their lives to me wherever we go... but I know sometimes I don't take the time to visit when I should. Thanks for the reminder.

Oh, no! Was that the guy on Bloxham Cut off? We used to go there all the time for honey, but never actually saw the guy. It was an honor system (though my husband always put in extra because he thought this was so cool). This is sad news indeed.

FC, get out there and pick while you can.

Kathy, every time I take that extra minute, I'm glad I did.

Troll, that's my goal. 8-]

Meems, I often have the same eefect on people. I think they just recognize a willing listener.

Sayre, it was he. I always went to his corner down by the refuge. I'm wondering if anyone will carry on his honey biz.
