On December 25, 1837, a force of 2,000 U.S. Army Soldiers
and Alabama Volunteers arrived near a spot about 20 miles
east of Orlando to construct a fort which was aptly named
Fort Christmas. This fort was only one of over 200 forts built
during the Second Seminole Indian War, 1835 - 1842.

Again, have a wonderful New Year.
Love in Jesus our Lord, G G :)
P. S.
Drop by and see my (our)Christmas card on the blog when you have time. You can also right-click on it and open it in a new tab, and view it much larger and see more detail.
- and you may print it off if you wish. G G :)
Ft. Christmas is the mere hamlet of Christmas, Florida, now. But lots of folks take their Christmas cards out there to have the post office stamp it "Christmas."
Merry merry Christmas Sophie Mae!
Very interesting as always, Sophie. I've taken a blogging break but back now trying to get around to catch up. I surely hope your Christmas was wonderful and I wish you a most Happy and Propserous New Year!
