I love JESUS! I'm a 7th-generation Florida native, dyed-in-the-wool Southron belle. I just recently dusted off my genealogy notes and, thanks to a long-lost relative, nearly doubled the details. We started home schooling when only 'outlaws' did it and still enjoy a daily quest for knowledge. These days, the family spends a lot of time birding, butterflying, spending as much time in 'the woods' as possible while they're still here.
I agree! I do not like snakes - at all! It was just about a week ago that when I walked out of the house and into the garage, I startled a very large black snake, who then frightened me when he quickly slithered past me. I screamed and a few seconds later Emily came into the garage and found me standing in the clean clothes basket not wanting to move.
Excellent picture! I guess unlike most, I'm not scared of rattlers...I respect them. Can you believe I have yet to ever see one in the wild? The places I have been, that amazes me...one of these days, and I hope to have my camera with me!
Patricia, I'm sorry, but I had to laugh at that mental image. I actually like most of our snakes. Yours was probably a black racer. they're beautiful creatures.
SwampAngel, I'm not TOO scared of them, as long as there's a respectable distance between us. I'll walk all around a pygmy, snapping pics, but diamondbacks (and mocs)are a whole nother story.

"DANGER Will Robinson DANGER"
I tried to take the same photo ... and got bit twice in the hand before realizing that I needed my zoom lens. Silly me! (and just joking).
Yikes! Too close! Too close!
that's really scary!!!
Baker, that's one critter I give a VERY wide berth.
Jeanette, it's been a while since I heard that. 8-]
Robert... and you lived to tell the tale. LOL!
Alice Audrey, there was a nice thick pane of glass between us.
Inyang, they sure scare me!
