Bluecurls!

These may just be my all-time, number one, most favouritest flower ever. I was so tickled when I discovered them in our yard several years ago. The past 2-3 years, they've moved into my rose garden and they're quite welcome to stay as long as they like.

Yesterday morning I renewed my quest for a really good shot of these tiny blossoms. And I think I've finally done it. I do believe these are my best efforts so far. And they've inspired me to get out there again tomorrow and see if I can't do better.

Lovely, aren't they? And they attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds! The perfect flower! It's a member of the mint family and supposedly has some herbal value. I'll need to research that as well as bluecurl honey. Hmmm...

It was a blue curl photo that first wowed me with your photo skills a few years ago Sophie. Anyone who knows this tiny flower knows it's tough to get sharp photos of the little rascals.
You are the blue curl master!

I found a 20 acre cutover field full of blazing star yesterday and over the weekend I'm going to try and capture it for a post.
Just a see of purple.
Amazing.

Oh, they are so pretty! I haven't seen them down here, so I guess they're a northern thing?

Hopefully I'll be going to get a new camera today...nothing fancy (can't afford that!)but anything is better than nothing!

That is a beautiful little flower without a doubt. And it certainly doesn't conform to the symmetrical features seen in so many decorative flowers. Quite interesting and a wonderful color.

Gosh, thanks bunches, FC! I need to check whether it's one word or 2. Reliable sources can't seem to agree. I can't wait to see your sea of purple!

SwampAngel, according to my field guide and favourite online source, they're found throughout the state. I only learned about them about 10 years ago, then it took me a while to find one.

Baker, no matter how many I see, I still get excited every time. Yes, wonderful colour, indeed!

Blue curl. Perfect name. Perfect photo that last one. I remember your captures last year of this lovely rose garden replacement. You have outdone yourself, my dear.

Those are beautiful. Are they wild, or can they be purchased? Are they native to Fl?
