PhotoHunt: Road

This is what Fay did to the road in Alligator Point. They have to repair this road every time a big storm affects the area. The last time was when Dennis (2005) made landfall about 200 miles away. This year, Fay, though much weaker, made landfall a whole lot closer.

Once again, the road crews did their thing, adding the broken pieces of sidewalk to the riprap of previous years. And life goes on...

The power and energy of water and those storm surges can be amazing. But, as you say, life goes on...

Unbelieveable what nature can do. When I see pictures like your first one, I think how in the heck can that happen??? It would've been amazing to have been able to actually SEE it happen...probably scary, but amazing!

You would think by now they would have come up with some way to make these roads withstand such forces, but I guess it's just not possible.
