Mystery solved (correction)

EDIT: Correction... the middle pic is a White M Hairstreak (WOOHOO!) and the last is a Grey. My camera didn't misread the colour a much as I thought. I'm so used to seeing Greys, I'd given up on the other varieties.

Suze is right, it's a butterfly... a Grey Hairstreak.

The last picture is closer to the true colour. The other was more shaded.

These tiny butterflies love my white almond bush. The 'eyes' in the first picture are a decoy for predators. A hairstreak rarely loses its head. 8-]

What an amazing and confusing photo angle! That was extremely tough.

SwampAngel, yep, it was tricky alright. Gotta keep y'all on your toes. 8-}

Steve, I was really tickled with that shot. He wouldn't sit still and the wind picked up every time he showed his 'good side'.

FC, they're way up near the top of my favourites list.

Thanks ever so, Aint B! 8-] That's my white almond AKA sweet almond bush. It's been freezing and coming back for several years now. I hear they're hard to find for some reason.

Pretty, pretty, pretty! We have red-banded hairstreaks in our yard on occasion.
