I wasn't terribly happy with (the quality of) these pics, but found them amusing enough to share. This Tricolored Heron (Egretta tricolor) did an amazing Reddish Egret impression.

The two dragonflies and the dowitchers are such good pictures! And you're right, that Tricolored Heron really is acting like a Reddish Egret.
I've been loooking for a name for that "frogfruit" for a long time, as it's very common here. I am terrible at keying out plants, and typically don't even know where to start.
Now, at least, I can get a scientific name from the common. Thanks!
Jena, thanks for noticing. 8-] I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised at how well some of the tiny critters turned out. It was quite windy down there... full 18x zoom, car running, handheld...

TFish, happy to have been of service. One of my favourite plant guides is The Guide to Florida Wildflowers by Walter Kingsley Taylor. Not all-inclusive, but I've learned a lot from it. If you can't find frogfruit, try its alias, carpetweed.
