The Rolling Stones' mega-hit, Satisfaction, was writtten in Clearwater.
After a show at Jack Russell Stadium in May, 1965,
Keith Richards awoke in his room at the
Jack Tar Harrison Hotel (today it's the Fort Harrison)
with Satisfaction’s opening guitar riff in his head.

Awesome! I'd never heard that one before!
So there you are! All yesterday, I received a "this blog does not exist" message for you.
SwampAngel, I wish I'd known that when I stayed there back in the late 60's. Then again, I never was that big a Stones fan, anyhow. Liked some of their music, but could pretty much take them or leave them.
FC, sorry about that! I forgot to change the date to '09 when I post-dated the post and when I fixed it, the post-date thing didn't work. (Did that make ANY sense at all?) At least I have an idea now why I get that 'doesn't exist' message sometimes. 8-}
Isn't that hotel the Scientology headquartes now?
CC/JJ, unfortunately, yes. It was a beautiful hotel and I wish I could stay there again when I go home. 8-[
