The Great Florida Cattle Drive

Just passing on these links. I hope they do this again and again. I'd love to think they'll still be able to do this 20 years form now. One can dream, huh?

The drive's home page

Carlton Ward's pics from the drive

Map of the trail from Daytona Beach News Journal - the NJ has an amazing narrated slide show.

Carlton Ward's photographs were also featured in this year's calendar from University Press of Florida.

Also check out the photo gallery for next year's calendar.

WORD: Sorry for any confusion over yesterday's Christmas greeting. I manually changed the date to keep it on top, coz blogger wouldn't let me put it in the header. 8-}

FC, if you get a chance to check out the News Journal's slide show, it's worth the wait. Carlton Ward's gallery has quite a few pics from Cedar Key, as well.

sophie: hope you are enjoying your Christmas Season. i've been too busy to check out blogs as often as i'd like so catching up a little today.

every time i hear anything about cattle drives i first of all think about all the times we rounded up cattle on my papa's acreage in brandon growing up. then i think about the book by Patrick Smith- A Land Remembered... i thoroughly enjoyed the story portrayed of cattle driving and the family that made their living form it! it made me appreciate so much about our wonderful state!

Meems, I need to check out that book again. We have such a wonderful heritage here in Florida.

I'm dong a bit of catching up, as well. Along with Christmas, DS's birthday is a week before and Duller's is 2 weeks after. Never a dull moment this time of year. 8-]
