Name That Tuna

Recently, I've started snapping fish. It's tricky business catching these shy creatures in just the right light. And it helps if they stop moving for a second or three. Both of these are lake livers. I grew up saltwater fishng and to this day know relatively little about freshwater fish/fishing. I do know that Lake Seminole, where I shot the first little guy, is the 5th best bass fishing lake in the country. The second shot was taken yesterday morning at Lake Esther in San Luis Mission Park. Any idea what species they are?

i can't imagine trying to photograph fish- moving AND underwater-- but you have done a good job. my dad is an avid fresh water and salt water fisherman but i never had any interest in doing it- i can take care of my fair share of eating them though. :-)i don't think that counts.

The bottom fish sure looks like a male bluegill with the distinctive bars.
The top one is a sunfish too, but looks something like a pumpkinseed, but I'm not as sure on that one.
Catching up: Neat mirage photos and trysting turtles.
Powerful rain here tonight.

Meems, I had fun with the first one, lying on the rickety dock next to the boat ramp. It's been a while since I went fishing. I do enjoy it, but I prefer the eating part. LOL!

Hey, thanks, FC! That lake could be really nice if people weren't so trashy, but right now, I'm not sure I'd want to eat anything out of it.

Glad y'all are getting rain. We had a nice little, though too short, downpour earlier tonight. How's your pond? Our creek is still dry.

My pond is a bigger puddle, but still little more than flooded grass right now.
We have had a weekend of tropical style rain though.
