Too young for wheels

Well, I didn't make it to the refuge this weekend, but I did have an interesting visitor. This young wheel bug was having supper right outside the front door.

Arilus cristata

I only got one decent shot before he dropped and tried to hide. Probably thought I was trying to steal his ant. The flying ants are swarming now, so he's welcome to as many as he can scarf down. When he grows up, he'll look like this:

Arilus cristata
Fascinating as they are, I don't handle these guys. Some people have allergic reactions to their bite. Others say it hurts ten times worse than a hornet sting and takes weeks, sometimes months, to heal. I'll take their word for it.

Y'all have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^

Well,
sometimes it seems like everything has bit or stung me. This guy really hurts, but healing was pretty normal for a flesh dissolving injection :)

Not as bad as the giant water bug bit tho.

Ouch! Yes, some things are best left unexperienced. 8-}

Hey, it was good to hear from you too. I was worried about you for a while, was glad when you started posting again. I got tired of looking at that kind swan! Thanks again for the encouragement. Eliza's Story is going slow these days not because I don't have a lot to say, but becasue there is just no time to say it. Lots of extra work and family responsibilities these days. But, I hope to get back to her this weekend. After entertaining all the family for mother's day and speaking to a women's group on Saturday. To everything there is a season, right?

better advice and often faster delivery to boot. In fact, the entire free market system is predicated upon the success of the more efficient retail channel. Wheels Florida
