I love JESUS! I'm a 7th-generation Florida native, dyed-in-the-wool Southron belle. I just recently dusted off my genealogy notes and, thanks to a long-lost relative, nearly doubled the details. We started home schooling when only 'outlaws' did it and still enjoy a daily quest for knowledge. These days, the family spends a lot of time birding, butterflying, spending as much time in 'the woods' as possible while they're still here.
Every now and then, I stray across the FL-GA line. Last time, I took a little detour and stumbled across Metcalf, GA.
The town appears to be abandoned except for the lumber business.
I love this kind of place. Wouldn't it be great to buy the town and live in one of these old buildings? OK, so I'm a little... different. 8-] Gotta love me, doncha?

Oh, what a great looking place. I would love to live here too! I love places like this. Think about all the stories those buildings could tell. Let's buy it! Of course, I have to win the lottery and that means, play the lottery! I just keep forgetting to buy a ticket.
I went back up there today and explored a bit more. Only the main street is abandoned. There are actually quite a few people still living in the town. I'd still love to buy that strip.
Cathy, I'm still trying to come up with a way to without actually buying a ticket.
FC, if you win, I'll gladly pay you $1 down and $1 a week for my share. 8-}
Hi, thanks for your comment on my paddletales blog. I see your reference to Lake Frances in one of your earlier posts...is that the one in Madison? Are we neighbors?

I bought a lottery ticket tonight so no problem.
