Florida Factoid Friday
The State Bureau of Geology says the highest known surveyed elevation in Florida is located in the northeastern part of Walton County. The elevation at Britton Hill, just south of Lakewood, has been fixed at 345 feet above sea level.

Florida Factoid Friday
The world's longest fishing pier spans 3 counties in Tampa Bay.
It is a portion of the old (original) collapsed Sunshine Skyway bridge.
Sorry I'm late and have no pics. Phone lines were 'hit by lightning' yesterday and it took them 22 hours to repair. Sad, ain't it? Have a JESUS-filled weekend!

Mystery solved
Well, dawgawn if KellyRae didn't correctly guess dragonfly.

It's a male Blue Dasher (Pachydiplax longipennis). I'm always thrilled to see these guys - and all their cousins - patroling our yard. Anything that eats mosquitoes is OK in my book. We're seeing more Carolina Saddlebags this year, as well, but they're less inclined to sit still for a portrait. I confess I'm a bit partial to the Eastern Pondhawks, coz they're most likely to sit on my toes. 8-]

Florida Factoid Friday

Lake Okeechobee is a remnant of a shallow sea, known as the Pimlico Sea. Although large in surface area, Lake Okeechobee is a shallow and probably contains less than two cubic miles of water. It is the fourth largest natural lake entirely within the United States, covering 700 square miles in five counties. It is the second largest fresh water lake wholly within the United States. Average depth is less than 20 feet with some areas in the center less than 6 feet.

I've been scarce lately for a variety of reasons. Real life seems to be realer than usual and there's so much going on out there in the real world. Friday, a thunderstorm knocked out the phone lines all day! Saturday, DS and I day tripped till midnight. Today is our anniversary and my birthday is coming up in a few weeks. As Roseanne Roseannadanna said, it's always sumthin'. 8-}
